what is twitter?

i usually go through early morning times of india's(online) news paper headline to keep me update with todays world. i am not a big follower of politics... i surf basically entertainment or sports.

what strike me todays the headline - Sachin in twitter.

My first question-- what is twitter. i saw twitter symbol in many website..displaying follow this & that. i didnt care at that time.

But today seeing the god(sachin) is in twitter made my mind ambi. Should i join twitter?

finally i finish my work at office and came home. I typed twitter.com and vala...the twitter web page is in-front of me. Been a good boy, i gave my credential and my user:id and passward, the twitter created my account.

Now i can login into twitter....but the big question is what to do now. It says follow and followers..

I get myself follow few person and start felling some nausea.

I didnt join twitter to follow some other...why i joined...to see sachin twitter's account.

i made search by name sachin tendulkar...and vala...sachin profile was in-front of me. I clicked follower tab and add myself into the list.

then i search salman khan...and yes he was also there...gave few random comments. i replied one comment saying i am huge fan of his.

Now the biggest question is, is he able to see what i have written? or just i am another idiot and added myself into follower list?

please help i am confused.
